Our Diaconate Board wanted to let you know that the Food Pantry could use the following items:
- Children’s cereals
- Juice boxes
- Healthy granola bars
- Fruit snacks (such as Welches)
This is a GREAT ministry to help those in our community who are in material need. If you could help by donating any of the above items it would be greatly appreciated.
Psalm 139:23-24 NIV
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
Sermon: Called To Be The Salt of the Earth
Scripture: Mark 9:38-50
In this passage Jesus is challenging us: “Those of you who are My disciples should affect the world in a positive way by the way in which you live.” We will learn about how we are called to be moral antiseptics–in order to make a positive impact in our society and in the world.
Please come and join us at FBC Hudson on Sunday @ 10:00 a.m.
Mark 9:35-50 35 Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all.” 36 He took a little child and had him stand among them. Taking him in his arms, he said to them, 37 “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.” 38 “Teacher,” said John, “we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.” 39 “Do not stop him,” Jesus said. “No one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, 40 for whoever is not against us is for us. 41 I tell you the truth, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to Christ will certainly not lose his reward. 42 “And if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around his neck. 43 If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out. 44 45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. 46 47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, 48 where “‘their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.’ 49 Everyone will be salted with fire. 50 “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with each other.”
Our next Cabinet Meeting is scheduled for 6:30pm, on July 29. All church members are encouraged to attend! Each Board and Committee should prepare a report of the activities from their board for the past 3 months to be read by the chairperson of the board/committee, or a specified designee.
Note: the previous update incorrectly stated the meeting was taking place at 6pm…
James 5:16 NIV
“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
A reminder…A session is being held on Thursday, July 24th, at 7.pm., in Memorial Hall, on the history of FBC Hudson.
Ruth Parker (our church historian) will lead the session.
Please come to learn about the amazing history of how God has lead this church for more than 200 years!
And, you are encouraged to invite friends.
Blessings! Pastor Moa
Matthew 6:1 NIV
““Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.”
Luke 6:27-28 NIV
““But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”
Our church will again have a table at this year’s Old Home Days (from August 14 to 17). This is a great opportunity to allow the community of Hudson to get to know us.
We will need people to staff the table during the event. There is a sign-up sheet available at each entrance of the church for you to indicate which time-slot(s) you are available to help.
We will have handouts to share with visitors that will help them get to know us better and share our witness with the community.
Please contact any member of the Diaconate Board with questions.
